Freguently Asked Questions - FAQ
Q: Does Konnektor work over the internet?
A: No it does not.
Q: Can I connect between different OS's, like XP to Windows 7?
A: Yes that works just fine.
Q: The program will not start, what is wrong?
A: Konnektor requires the .NET Framework 3.5 to work. You can download it here.
Q: Is it really safe to let Konnektor through my firewall?
A: Yes. Konnektor opens up a port and listens for connections from other copies of Konnektor and will not answer any other connections.
Q: Connection keeps failing, what should I do?
A: Konnektor uses an address of the other computer to connect. The computer Konnektor is connecting from also has such an address. These addresses are called IP-addresses and if they do not match some criteria connection will fail.
Usually your computer gets this address from other hardware like your internet modem, router, switch or the like. But if you experience problems you can set the address yourself, here's how in Windows 7:
1: Go to the Start Menu and click Control Panel
2: In the window that appears, click "View network status and tasks" (underlined in red)
3: The window changes, click "Change adapter settings"
4: The window changes again, double-click the adapter you want to use
5: In the window that appears, click "Properties"
6: In the window that appears, select "Internet Protocol Version 4" and click "Properties"
7: In the window that appears, type an address into the fields, such as 192.168.0.1 and for Netmask type 255.255.255.0
8: Do the same for the other computer but choose another address, such as 192.168.0.2. Netmask must still be 255.255.255.0. Try connecting again with Konnektor
